The prayer intention for Pope Francis for October 2022 is for a Church open to everyone, a Church that walks together. The ideas of communion, participation and mission are essential to the Church in the third millennium. In preparation for the 2023 Synod of Bishops in Rome, the Pope modeled these ideas by calling for listening sessions to take place in parishes all around the world in 2021-2022.  The thoughts, concerns and experiences of all the people were sought, documented and sent to their dioceses to be synthesized and sent on the national conferences. The various national Bishops Conferences synthesized the parish reports to serve as input for the 2023 Synod.  In the video below, Pope Francis explains why this “walking together” is so important for us as a Church today and why we need to pray for this intention.
